North Dakota receives state budget award
​
Bismarck, N.D. - The state of North Dakota has been awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its 2021-2-23 biennium budget by the government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
​
"We appreciate the assistance of all state agencies that help us gather information to prepare the state budget, and are honored that the GFOA recognizes our commitment to quality," said Office of Management and Budget (OMB) director Joe Morrissette. "This Award reflects our success in meeting the standards of GFOA in developing a state budget that serves as a policy document, a financial plan, and operations guide, and a communicaitons device."

This is the 15th consecutive budget-cycle that North Dakota has received the Distinguisehd Budget Presentation Award. The GFOA also presented a Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation to OMB for its primary role in creating the budget document.
Each biennium, OMB prepares the governor's recommended budget for the upcoming biennium, which is then presented to the legislature for approval and enactment.

Remembering Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem

Wayne Stenehjem, North Dakota’s longest-serving attorney general, died on Jan. 28, 2022, at the age of 68.
​
Stenehjem was first elected to the position of attorney general in 2000. Prior to his election, Stenehjem served in the North Dakota Legislature for 24 years. He announced in December 2021 that he would not seek reelection.
​
During his time as attorney general, Stenehjem made drug enforcement a priority, developed a 24/7 sobriety program for repeat DUI offenders, created a prescription drug take-back program, and launched several online citizen assistance programs. He also established the state crime lab and enhanced the training of state crime bureau agents and the special prosecution unit of his office.
​
Public visitation was held for Stenehjem in Memorial Hall at the North Dakota State Capitol on Feb. 2, and his funeral was on Feb. 3 at the Bismarck Events Center. Through Feb. 3, Gov. Burgum ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of Stenehjem’s many years of service. Additionally, on Feb. 2 and 3, the Capitol windows displayed a thin blue line to represent all law enforcement personnel, and the number 5, signifying the attorney general’s place as fifth in the governor’s line of succession, and a number he proudly displayed on his license plate.

Attorney General Stenehjem will be missed by citizens and team members alike. Those who worked in the Capitol will remember how he always had a kind word and a smile for everyone he passed in the hall.

BISMARCK STATE COLLEGE WEB PAGES
I was highly involved in researching and rewriting the official history page on the Bismarck State College website.
I wrote and edited descriptions for new programs at Bismarck State College, including the cyber certificates linked here. These descriptions are also used for printed handouts and sales sheets.
FAST TRACK
I wrote the script and worked as a production assistant for the Fast Track video campaign at BSC.
MARAUDERS ON MEDIA WEB CONTENT
I serve as the Writing Executive for Marauders on Media, a student media organization. In this position, I run pitch meetings and support other student writers, while also writing content and editing articles for our website.
This is the inaugural "Nerdy Nook" article, starting a campaign aimed to involve guest writers from outside Marauders on Media to share their oddly specific knowledge about any oddly specific topic.
I wrote two short films in 2021 and was heavily involved in producing both of them.
